Trussardi 1911 Spring/Summer

This Trussardi collection was especially diverse. There were quirky colours, Native American and western themes, and weird geometric patterns. Definitely not boring.

Gucci Spring/Summer 2010

What I liked about this collection was that it actually evoked the feeling of summer. Isn't that what a summer wardrobe should be about? A lot of the summer collections fail to give off that vibe.

One other random note: Gucci's Creative Director, Frida Giannini, has to be the hottest designer around.

Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2010

While normally one of my favorites, I wasn't too keen on the latest Burberry Prorsum show. Still, Christopher Bailey had enough in the tank to make the collection somewhat interesting.
The collection highlighted a lot of soft light fabrics and loosely tailored garments.

Giorgio Armani, Spring Summer 2010

I really enjoyed this collection. With the draping garments and tactile fabrics, the collection was classic Armani . There were also some great leather jackets and just enough shades of blue and beige/ochre to make the many shades of Armani-Grey look interesting. Or maybe it was the fact that a lot of the guys were accompanied by beautiful female models.

Costume National Homme Mens Spring/Summer 2010

Amongst other things, the CNH 20010 Spring/Summer collection offered soft lightweight fabrics, which gave an interesting effect when paired with closely tailored garments.

The kaffiyeh also made several appearances. How very 2000-and-late.

Dolce & Gabbana - Spring/Summer 2010 (Mens)

Fashion week in Milan kicked off today showing the Spring/Summer 2010 Men's collections including the Dolce & Gabbana show.

The Dolce collection offered some familiar themes from years past: monotone shades (white/black, grey/silver), blingy tuxedo jackets , destroyed jeans and guys with silk shirts mysteriously tucked into their speedos.

There was also a whole lot of patterned beads and sequins (see jacket below). Heck there was even a bathrobe adorned with beads/sequins. I guess some people need to feel fabulous when they eat their corn flakes.


The tux jackets fell into three varieties, all previously offered by Dolce:

-slim, shawl collar

Oh, and for those Madonna fans, apparently, her 22 year old boy toy, Jesus Luz, (shown above in the speedo) was in the show and is also slated to be in an upcoming Dolce marketing campaign.

Benjamin Trix-me

There was a lot of anticipation when after André 3000 of Outcast fame decided to launch a fashion label last year called Benjamin Bixby. After all, André is widely considered to be one of the best and most original dressers in America. The label is said to be inspired from American college football circa the 1930's.

After rummaging through some of the collection at Holt Renfrew in Toronto, I was disappointed to discover that almost all items were made in China. I think I found only one raw silk jacket that was made in Italy. I expected more from the label. Furthermore, while not outrageous, I don't see how the prices being sought can be justified for garments made in China.

Also, from what I saw on the sale rack, the label doesn't seem to be doing that well. It just goes to show that it does not follow that one can make it as a successful designer simply because one is a good (or in André's case, the best) dresser.

Sorry Ms. Jackson, but Benjamin Bixby may not be around forever ever.
