Dolce & Gabbana, Fall/Winter 2012

This was a bit of eccentric collection as far as these guys go, brought to you by the colours grey and red.

 Although there was a hodgepodge of styles,  there were a few consistent details that I found disconcerting such as lack of a tie (never dug the Forrest Gump vibe), short jackets, and ill-fitting pants with no seat.

There was also the usual display of razzle dazzle tuxedos,

but given the clunky shoes,

skinny suspenders, plaids, trilby hats, etc., the collection had a more hipster than Hollywood feel.

Dolce & Gabbana - Spring/Summer 2011 (Mens)

Overview:  This collection was a definite change in direction for Dolce. Their shows usually feature armies of smartly dressed tuxedos alongside guys in snug fitting casual and gym wear. Instead, this collection showcased light shades and loose fitting fabrics, gently tied at the waist. Who's up for sipping afternoon drinks at Stefano's Malibu beach house?

This collection must've been inspired by 19th century clothing: a lot of caps, long underwear, and knits. Not exactly what super glamorous Dolce is known for.

There was of course some glam formal wear. It is a Dolce show after all.

Dolce & Gabbana - Spring/Summer 2010 (Mens)

Fashion week in Milan kicked off today showing the Spring/Summer 2010 Men's collections including the Dolce & Gabbana show.

The Dolce collection offered some familiar themes from years past: monotone shades (white/black, grey/silver), blingy tuxedo jackets , destroyed jeans and guys with silk shirts mysteriously tucked into their speedos.

There was also a whole lot of patterned beads and sequins (see jacket below). Heck there was even a bathrobe adorned with beads/sequins. I guess some people need to feel fabulous when they eat their corn flakes.


The tux jackets fell into three varieties, all previously offered by Dolce:

-slim, shawl collar

Oh, and for those Madonna fans, apparently, her 22 year old boy toy, Jesus Luz, (shown above in the speedo) was in the show and is also slated to be in an upcoming Dolce marketing campaign.

Dolce Gabbana, Fall 2009 Men's

Amongst other thing, this collection featured numerous evening/tuxedo jackets. I used to be a lot more influenced by Dolce, and as a result, I had a bunch of dinner jackets made for me. I have subsequently realised that the jackets aren't the most practical. After all, I'm not nominated for that many Grammys.

Also of note in this collection:

• jackets and pants that looked like they're made of recycled Sealy mattresses and


• pink/purple (silk?) shoes

I like the shoes, but as for the quilted fabrics, despite my reputation, I'm not sure I want to look like a walking mattress.
