Etro - Spring/Summer 2011

Overview: Kean Etro's fondess for print patterns has finally gone out of control-- shorts, pants, suit jackets;  even lapels weren't safe. I really can't stand print patterns on anything other than t-shirts. Tone it down, per favore, guys.

Rating: Bomb

Highlights: not many, though I did like the use of the shades of olives and mustards

Lowlights: It was allllll bad

Etro, Fall/Winter 2010 Men's

Overview:  A somewhat more sedate version of previous Etro offerings, sprinkled with the occasional blast of colour and other eccentricities such as two-toned pants and knee-high plaid spats (or are they leg warmers?).

Rating: **1/2 (out of ****)

Highlights: Two-toned and purple shoes.

Lowlights: Dress pants with elastic seams at the ankles (bad idea), dorky Walt Whitman style hats;

Etro Spring/Summer 2010

I like dressing in colour more than most people, but the Etro show was wildly psychedelic-- not that I'm complaining. I think a good way to put colour to use is to ration it out in small but spectacular doses. Check out the guy in the jeans below. I love the way the belt, armband, bracelet and shoes just jump out of the outfit.
Also, check out the wierd-but-cute pirate/skull tee on the guy with the crazy jacket.

Etro, Fall 2009 Men's

Etro is synonymous with loud, splashy colours and patterns. A lot of the stuff looks really cool, but once I've brought some of it home, I've found it challenging to put together an outfit of with all the crazy colours and patterns. It's much easier to assemble an an outfit with mono shades/tones and simple patterns. I've also been disappointed with the fit of the shirts--they're quite roomy. This season, I did, however pick up a great pair of really soft purple leather gloves with a lime-green wool lining. Only Etro could have made something that cool.
