D & G men's Spring/Summer 2012 - That 90's show?

When I clicked on the D&G show, I really wasn't expecting an array of paisley and  baroque, Versace-like patterns adorned in every which way on everything from shirts, pants, shoes and hats. But there ya go.

D&G Fall/Winter 2012

Are there any brands more American than Coca-Cola and Mickey Mouse?? Ok, maybe Facebook and Apple, Google...Well, anyways, in the 1950's, there weren't. This collection was an obvious homage to classic Americana, especially with the preppy, "Polo" layers of colour.

The sunglasses and earphones gave the look a bit of an 80's new-wave vibe. Isn't this how the cool kids in all those 80's movies dressed (remember Stiles from Teen Wolf?)?

D&G-- being the junior Dolce and Gabbana label-- definitely succeeded in providing a new direction for the brand with this whimsy collection .

D & G Fall/Winter 2010 (Men's)

Overview: I'm guessing  Dolce & Gabbana are global warming skeptics by the look of their latest D&G collection. Lots of layering and insanely warm-looking clothing. How odd that moose knit sweaters are all the fashion rage. I'd like to think that Canadian designer Phillip Sparks had something to with it, not to mention HBC's 2010 Olympic gear (and I guess Thom Browne  too).

Rating: *** (out of ****)

Highlights: Fashionable layering of ski gear; black velvet tuxedos.

Lowlights: Ski boots worn with tuxedos, Michelin man type jackets.

D and G Spring/Summer 2010

What do you get when you mix dusty shades of denim, leather and acid washed jeans? Why the 2010 Spring/Summer D& G show of course. I always liked D&G slim fitting shirts and denim. I also give the label points for using dusty brown shades which nobody else seems to be doing.
