Simon Spurr 2011 Spring Summer

Simon Spurr has to be my favorite American-based designer. In his latest collection he seamlessly managed to combine old world Saville Row dandiness with the sleekness and simplicity of some modern designers such as Italo Zuchelli, of Calvin Klein. I am also impressed that he doesn't feel the need to embellish his shows with absurd gimmicky pieces to establish his cred as an "artiste". Are you listening Thom Browne? Didn't think so.

Overview: One of my favorite up-and-coming designers, Simon Spurr didn't disappoint this season by adding much-needed pizazz to New York fashion week (first time I've ever used the word "pizazz").

What time is it in New York when it's Film Fest in Toronto? Why Fashion Week of course.

I really like this guy Simon Spurr. His clothes are quite dashing. I liked his earlier fall collection (the first I had seen) and I'm certainly liking the summer collection.

It's been fashion week this past week in New York. New York fashion week is a bit different than Fashion Week in Paris and Milan in that though there are some well known names (e.g Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren), a lot of the labels that are featured are up-and-comers, such as this one, Spurr.

I don't know much about the label "Spurr", but I did like the collection and decided to profile it.

According to the website (http://www.spurr.tv/), the designer is named Simon Spurr and he's worked at Ralph Lauren, Bergdorf and Barney's. I don't know if it available in Canada.
