Jean-Paul Gaulthier Fall/Winter 2010 Men's

Overview: Much has been already made of oddball Jean-Paul Gaulthier's bloody boxing theme, but maybe not for the reasons he envisioned.  Painting the models with blood may have seemed to be a good idea at the time but DSquared beat him to the punch (bad pun)  this very season with a bloody hockey theme.

The other notoriety comes from a picture of JPG with Chris Brown, which looks eerily similar to the infamous Rihanna bruised pic.

Anyways, as for the show, it was imspired by boxing gear, but boxers don't wear much-- at least the ones I've fought.  Go Figure.

Highlights: Boxing shoes/boots, leather "motorcycle" pants

Fall 2009 Men's Jean Paul Gaultier

JPG-- up to his old tricks again. Words can't really do this one justice. Every model was fitted with an Afro wig, man, woman and child. Was it meant to be some sort of patronizing tribute to Obama? Wouldn't fly in America, Jean-Paul.

Thatbeing said, once you got beyond the wigs, there were some interesting pieces.

Simons in Montreal carries some of the men's collection. The pieces are usually pretty trippy. Aside from Century 21, I don't even see his stuff in New York City (but I'm sure it's gotta be available somewhere).
