Toronto International Film Festival: fashion celebrities invade Toronto

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will see some of the biggest names in the fashion industry visiting Toronto.

Firstly, Tom Ford will be in town for the premiere of his directorial debut of the movie "A Single man". If you're interested in the movie, you can read more about it over here: http://www.tiff.net/filmsandschedules/films/singleman

I can't recall the last time Tom Ford was in Toronto-- if ever -- so I guess this is a bit of big deal for his fans. The Bay/Bloor Harry Rosen store has a nice Tom Ford boutique so I wonder if they'll be having any events. Hmmm, query whether I should've investigated before writing this post!?

As a random side note, I find it interesting that Tom Ford's most recent ad campaign features who else but Tom Ford as the model. Vanity aside, I think TF did this because he knows how well recognised he is.

The Canadian twin designers behind Dsquared², Dean and Dan Caten will also be in town. Why? They are being inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame:

They are perhaps the most well Canadian recognised fashion designers in Canadian history, so they deserve the honour. The Walk of Fame is Canada's version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame featuring such luminaries such as Pierre Burton and Brendan Fraser. Ok, I'm being a bit unfair --there are some genuine star inductees such as Bryan Adams, Jim Carrey and William Shatner. The "walk" itself is located on King and Simcoe street Street.

But back to Dsquared²: Being Toronto natives, the Caten twins actually make it into Toronto from time to time, often doing promotional events at Holt Renfrew. I'm not sure if they are otherwise participating in TIFF, although I'm sure they'll make the rounds on the party circuit.

If you're really anxious to meet them, they will be at the Century Room nightclub on Sunday night.
